I wrote a song in about 30 minutes today. For someone else. I dig it too, so its a little hard to let go of. I call that being “married” to a song. I am a writer before anything else in my mind, and take great PRIDE, in writing my own music, (you see what I did back there? 🙂 )… Sometimes they spill out that way, other times not so much. Its a constant therapy session, I battle awareness and withholding, disclosure, venting, and denial. It really just depends on what I am in the mood to expose. Some days, getting it out can’t happen fast enough.
It only took me about 15 minutes to write the lyrics to “Again”. It took me about an hour to throw tgthr “Beautiful Disaster”. A couple weeks were spent writing “All the Time” with Jarrod. Just like conversations we labor over or find ease in, the process of telling the truth, looks and feels differently every single time.
